The 2025 AIJC Investigative Journalism Masterclass Fellowship is currently accepting applications. This fellowship program is organized by the African Investigative Journalism Conference (#AIJC2025), developed through a collaboration between the Wits Centre for Journalism (WCJ), SKUP (the Association for Critical and Investigative Press in Norway), and Bellingcat. The program offers an intensive three-day training workshop focusing on cutting-edge investigative journalism methods, scheduled to take place directly before the main AIJC conference.<\/p>\n

The AIJC 2025 Investigative Journalism Masterclass Fellowship covers digital forensics, OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) tools, artificial intelligence applications, and data verification techniques. Led by Bellingcat’s expert team and conducted in English, the workshop will span from Sunday, November 2nd through Tuesday, November 4th.<\/p>\n

Fellowship recipients will also receive full access to the AIJC conference and its associated training sessions, which run from November 5-7, 2025, at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.<\/p>\n

Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
Fellowship opportunities are reserved for seasoned investigative journalists, editors, and journalism trainers from African nations.<\/li>\n
Selection will be based on applicants’ professional experience and recent investigative work, as demonstrated through their application responses.<\/li>\n
Recipients may also request additional financial assistance for travel and lodging expenses (note: this support excludes domestic transportation in home countries, insurance coverage, visa fees, local transportation within South Africa, or personal hotel expenses).<\/li>\n
Selected candidates must possess current passports and handle their own visa applications where necessary.<\/li>\n
Availability for travel is required from October 31st\/November 1st through November 8th-10th, 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
